CUSTOM HOME
designs
A well-designed home is the sum of countless thoughtful details. At Mudan Interior Design, we specialize in creating exceptional custom home designs that are a harmonious blend of creativity and functionality. These details range from material finish selections and detailed custom millwork to decorative lighting and everything else in between.
As your dedicated custom home interior designer, we are here to take the stress out of creating your dream home and add the peace of mind that comes with our comprehensive, integrated approach to new construction design. We work closely with your builder and architects, reviewing every aspect of the architectural planning to create a home that reflects your vision.
Then we further elevate the interior with carefully curated furnishings, window treatments, and accessories to create a cohesive design vernacular!
Design Investment
It is advisable to allocate 13-23% of your total project budget for design fees. There are several factors that will influence this fee, including the size of the project, the number of bathrooms and specialty spaces that require design, the number of design options you would like to see before making a decision, and uncontrollable construction factors such as the contractor’s timeline, site conditions, and permitting timelines.
Mudan Interior Design currently is accepting new home construction projects with budgets exceeding $600,000.
Our Custom Home Design Process
Our custom home interior design service is a detailed process that can take several months to complete depending on the project scope. We encourage potential clients to reach out to us sooner rather than later so we can schedule your project into our calendar.
1
Discovery call
We will discuss your project needs, your project investment and your dream! Let’s see if Mudan Interior Design is a good fit for your project.
2
CUSTOM DESIGN PLANNING SESSION
We will review your custom floor plan and construction budget and begin to understand your vision, preferences, and project-specific requirements. We will help you finalize the scope of work, create a preliminary investment breakdown for interior architectural elements that aligns with your overall construction budget, and present you with a customized design service proposal to review.
3
It's official...we're a team!
You will sign the design proposal/agreement and make your first payment. We will then schedule your project kick-off date. In the meanwhile, you will be asked to compile a Pinterest or Houzz style inspiration board of images that appeal to you. Additionally, you will be sent a detailed design questionnaire to complete.
4
KICK-OFF
During our kick-off meeting, we will do a deep dive into understanding your lifestyle, aesthetic preference. There may be separate kick-off meetings with your architect, general contractor and consultants depending on where you are along the construction process.
5
CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
Space planning is where all good design begins. We will ensure that an optimal furniture layout works with the architect’s plan to meet your lifestyle needs and maximize the flow and use of spaces. You will also be presented with mood boards for the Conceptual Design that delineate key design elements through inspirational images, color palettes, and material proposals.
6
design development
This phase typically lasts 3 to 6 months, with 3 to 5 design presentations. The final result is a curated package of materials, finishes, cabinetry, fixtures, hardware, lighting, and door styles, along with detailed drawings of ceilings, millwork, fireplaces, stair railings, and elevations for key spaces like kitchens and bathrooms.
7
CONSTRUCTION Documentation
Once you fall in love with the design package, we will produce the construction drawing set, along with detailed product & finishes schedules and specifications. This will ensure that your general contractor fully understands the design intent for bidding and construction.
8
ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION
While your construction crew is hard at work, we will place orders for furnishing and decorative lighting. We will also make period visits to the job site to ensure the design intent is executed correctly and address any questions your construction team may have. Lastly, we will be produce a punch list for your contractor prior at substantial completion of his work.
9
FURNISHING INSTALL DAY
Once the construction crew vacate the newly constructed home, we will schedule your furniture installation day. Leave your home to us on the install day to handle all the furnishing delivery to site and style your space to perfection. Return home to your vision realized!
